Agree on the indicators to be used and the appropriate monitoring in place to evaluate the indicators.
- Relative to the overall objectives of the SAF application, do the identified indicators provide the required information on state and progress?
- Go through the indicators on your MESAT list and check if these are aligned with the objectives.
- Go through the indicators on your InSAT list and check if these are aligned with the objectives.
- List the indicators, the ecosystem service it applies to and the units for the indicator.
- Evaluate if current monitoring programmes provide the necessary information/data for the indicators.
- List the indicators included in InSAT (in the Assessment step) and assess how to include these in the monitoring plan.
- Adjust current programmes or initiate new.
- Consider citizen science if resources for monitoring are limited.
- Set up and initiate the monitoring plan.
